Do you want to support your local democratic process, but aren’t able to work the full day? Not to worry! The Hamilton County Board of Elections needs people to work in our warehouse and around the county on election night. These jobs play a crucial part in helping at the end of the night and ensuring our elections are run fairly and smoothly.

Requirements

• Be a registered voter in Hamilton County, Ohio
• Be able to comfortably lift 30 pounds
• Have transportation to and from the Board of Elections or your assigned job location within Hamilton County
• Be able to work Tuesday, November 3rd, and report at your job’s starting time

What to Expect

• Contact our office if you have an interest in working as an election night worker
• Receive information regarding your job and scheduled start time
• Work election night doing one of the many jobs available
• Get your paycheck in the mail 3-4 weeks after election day OR if you’re participating in our Democracy on the Docks program, your chosen charitable organization will receive a check in the mail 3-4 weeks after election day

Election Night Jobs:

Early Pick-Up Guard – Driver and Passenger

• Arrive at the Board of Elections at 6:15 p.m. on Election Night for instructions.
• A Driver and Passenger, of opposite political parties, go out together in the Driver’s car to pick up equipment from several polling locations and return it to the Board of Elections.
• After returning, report to the Board of Elections Warehouse for another assignment. The work should be completed at approximately 10:30 pm.
• Compensation: $130 for the Driver and $120 for the Passenger

Election Night Worker

• Report to the Board of Elections at 8:00 p.m., Election Night.
• Assignments and instructions are delivered upon signing in.
• Most assignments include checking in supplies or gathering materials. Some assignments include lifting up to 40 lbs.
• Work will finish at approximately 10:30 p.m.
• Compensation: $80

Truck Commander and Ballot Guard

• Report to the Board of Elections at 7:00 a.m. on the Saturday before Election Day, for instructions. (October 31st, 2026)
• You will meet with the Truck Commander or Ballot Guard of the opposite political party and drive together in a box truck containing Election Supplies to a designated distribution site in Hamilton County where the Poll Workers will pick up the supplies needed for Election Day.
• Supplies are picked up between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. (noon) The truck and any remaining supplies are returned to the Board of Elections.
• On Election Day, report to the Board at 6:00 p.m., meet your Truck Commander or Ballot Guard and return the truck to the place where you distributed supplies on Saturday.
• The Poll Workers will return the supplies between 7:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. After everything is returned you will deliver the supplies to the Board. The work will conclude between 9:30 p.m. -10:00 p.m.
• Compensation: $250 for the Truck Commander and $200 for the Ballot Guard
• Note: Most of this assignment will occur outdoors.

Truck Supply Worker

• Report to an assigned distribution location within Hamilton County at 8:30 a.m. on the Saturday before Election Day. (October 31st, 2026)
• Under the direction of the Truck Commander and Ballot Guard, distribute the supplies needed for Election Day to poll workers. Assist poll workers loading supplies into their car.
• The work is completed once all supplies are picked up or no later than 12:00 p.m. (noon)
• On Election Day, at 7:30 p.m., you will return to the location you worked at on Saturday and wait for the Poll Workers to bring back the items that need to be returned to the Board Warehouse. The work will conclude between 9-9:30 p.m.
• Compensation: $120
• Note: This assignment occurs outdoors.
