TODAY IS NATIONAL POLL WORKER RECRUITMENT DAY!
HAMILTON COUNTY, Ohio – Today is National Poll Worker Recruitment Day! The Hamilton County Board of Elections is celebrating by encouraging voters to sign up and see the vital role poll workers play in conducting free and fair elections.
“Each election, more than 2,300 poll workers are needed to work on Election Day. If you are a registered voter and are interested in being a poll worker, sign up on the Board’s website today. Get paid for your time and help your neighbors exercise their right to vote” said Sherry Poland, Director.
Poll workers earn $225-$275. Training classes will be offered, by the Board of Elections in Norwood, at convenient times throughout October for the upcoming November 4th General Election.
In Hamilton County, several recruitment programs incentivize registered voters to serve as poll workers:
- Youth at the Booth – high school students (age 17+) are eligible to gain first-hand experience in our democratic process by working as poll workers.
- Partners in Democracy – participating organizations give staff the day off to work the polls and offer incentives to serve.
- Devoted to Service – participating nonprofits recruit volunteers to be poll workers. They pledge to donate their pay to the nonprofit. A great way to raise money for your cause!
- Second Call to Duty – Veterans of the Armed Services are invited to a Second Call to Duty by working the polls to ensure free and fair elections.
- CLE with the BOE – one of the Board’s most successful programs, CLE with the BOE, allows attorneys to earn FREE Continuing Legal Education credits plus compensation for their time.
“Today, on National Poll Worker Recruitment Day, the Board of Elections offers a heartfelt “Thank You” to all who honorably serve our communities as poll workers. Hamilton County enjoys free and fair elections thanks to your service and dedication” said Raquel Burgos, Deputy Director.
