Election Day is Tomorrow for Voters Throughout Hamilton County
Hamilton County, OH – Polls will be open throughout Hamilton County tomorrow, Tuesday, May 5th for the Primary Election from 6:30 am until 7:30 pm.
Early Voting ended on Sunday. There is no in-person voting at the Board of Elections today, May 4th.
Some voters in Hamilton County will notice updated polling locations and/or a new congressional district for this election. The BOE encourages all voters to verify their polling location and review their sample ballot to ensure they are prepared for Election Day.
“Voters can visit the Board’s website to confirm their Election Day polling location, view a list of valid forms of identification, and view a sample ballot before heading to the polls,” says Director Sherry Poland.
Ohio identification requirements have not changed for voting in the May 5th Primary Election. Visit votehamiltoncountyohio.gov to view a list of the acceptable forms of ID (see chart attached). Ohio’s new mobile ID is NOT an acceptable ID for voting purposes.
Only voters who have moved out of their precinct and have not yet updated their new address with the Board of Elections may vote at the Board’s Early Vote Center (4700 Smith Rd, Norwood) on Election Day. All others must vote at their assigned Election Day polling location.
“If you have not yet returned your voted absentee Vote by Mail ballot, you have until 7:30pm on Election Day to return it to the Board of Elections,” adds Deputy Director Raquel Burgos. “We have a convenient and secure 24-hour drive-through drop box at 4700 Smith Road in Norwood.”
If you are dropping off a voted ballot on behalf of a family member or disabled voter, you will need to come to the Board’s main office during business hours today - or tomorrow before 7:30pm - to drop off the ballot and fill out a 12-P Form.
Absentee ballots being returned either in person or by mail must be returned to the Board of Elections by 7:30pm on Election Day to be counted.
During a Primary Election, political parties nominate their candidates for the November General Election. Voters must select a ballot type when appearing to vote: Democratic, Republican, Libertarian or some Jurisdictions will have the option for an Issues Only ballot.
Any voter who casts a provisional ballot because they do not present a valid ID when voting must come to the Board’s main office by Saturday, May 9th, with their valid ID, to cure their ballot. The Board will be open 8:00am-5:00pm Wednesday, May 6th through Saturday, May 9th.
Once the polls close on Election Day at 7:30pm, voters can track Election Results live on our website, votehamiltoncountyohio.gov/results/.
