HAMILTON COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS
MEETING HELD
NOVEMBER 4, 2024 AT 8:30AM

The meeting of the Hamilton County Board of Elections was called to order at 8:30am. Present were members Ms. McFarlin, Mr. Triantafilou, Mr. Gerhardt and Mr. Mallory. Also present: Director Sherry Poland and Deputy Director Alex Linser and Dave Stevenson from the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office.

It was noted that proper notice was duly provided as required by O.R.C. 121.22. The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.

I. APPROVE: BOARD MEETING MINUTES: OCTOBER 8, 2024

Mr. Triantafilou made a motion to approve the Board Meeting minutes for October 8, 2024; Mr. Mallory seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

II. APPROVE: BALLOT REMAKES

Ms. Criddle presented the following ballots to the Board. All were remade by bipartisan teams pursuant to Secretary of State Directive and Board policy:

III. APPROVE: LOGIC AND ACCURACY TESTING

Ms. Poland reported that the Public test was conducted October 31, 2024.

Mr. Triantafilou made a motion to approve the Logic and Accuracy Testing results; Mr. Mallory seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

IV. DECLARE POLLS OPEN AT 6:30AM NOVEMBER 5, 2024

Mr. Mallory made a motion to Declare the Polls open at 6:30am on November 5, 2024; Mr. Gerhardt seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

VII. OTHER BUSINESS

Ms. Poland reported that Early Voting this Election cycle was record breaking, ending the day Sunday with 95,966 voters. As well, as of the end of the day on Sunday, 67,325 vote by mail ballots have been received. The Board offered many compliments to Staff for their outstanding work.
Mr. Linser announced the Recognition of the service of Cynthia Bates, a poll worker in Evanston since 1974. A proclamation was presented by the Board of Elections for her 50 years of service to Hamilton County. Kenny Henning presented a proclamation on behalf of Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose; Donna Laake presented a proclamation on behalf of the City of Norwood; Alex Triantafilou presented a proclamation on behalf of the City of Cincinnati and the County of Hamilton, Ms. Poland and Mr. Linser presented a gift of flowers and an Election Hero lapel pin to Ms. Bates. Ms. Bates expressed her honor and gratitude to serve for 50 years.

There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, Mr. Triantafilou made a motion to stand in recess; Mr. Mallory seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
