ELECTION DAY INCIDENT AT POLLING LOCATION
Hamilton County, OH – On Election Day, an individual appearing to vote temporarily obtained possession of an electronic pollbook while in a voting location. Electronic pollbooks are used by poll workers to check-in voters before issuing a ballot. They are not part of the vote counting system. The electronic pollbook was disabled remotely by the Board of Elections. The Voting Location Manager regained possession and discontinued use of that particular pollbook for the remainder of the day. The location had two other pollbooks in use at the time and a third replacement pollbook was delivered by a Board troubleshooter.
Any attempt to disrupt voting activities at a polling location will not be tolerated, and we are thankful that everyone is safe thanks to the sound judgement of our poll workers and the quick response of the Cincinnati Police Department.
The Hamilton County Board of Elections has spent months preparing for the November 5th election, and the security of our polling locations, poll workers and voters is always a top priority. Our poll workers and election officials are trained to de-escalate tensions and ensure voters have every opportunity to make their voice heard. Voters can be reassured that polling locations across our county are safe, secure, and we have made the proper preparations to respond to these types of situations as they arise
