Early Voting Begins for May 3rd Primary

HAMILTON COUNTY - There will be a primary election on May 3rd, 2022 with early voting starting tomorrow, April 5. The Secretary of State has directed Boards of Elections to proceed with the May Primary. Primary voters will be voting on races for U.S. Congress, U.S. Senator, Governor, State Attorney General, State Auditor, Secretary of State, State Treasurer, as well as several judicial candidates and local candidates and issues. Please note: Contests to nominate candidates for State Representative, State Senate, and State Central Committee will not appear on the May 3rd Primary Ballot.

Ongoing litigation surrounding Ohio’s decennial redistricting process has delayed the primary election for state legislative races. The Ohio General Assembly will need to act to schedule an additional primary later in the year. However, the May 3rd primary will proceed without those contests, and early voting begins this week.

“This May 3rd, Hamilton County voters will be nominating candidates for statewide offices, U.S. Congress, County Commissioners, County Auditor, Clerk of Courts, and several judicial offices, as well as deciding ballot issues in several jurisdictions”, said Sherry Poland, Director. “We encourage voters to view their sample ballot on our website and make a plan to vote”.

“It is imperative that voters know that the May 3rd Primary is still on for many significant state and local contests,” said Alex Linser, Deputy Director. “The Hamilton County Board of Elections is prepared to record your vote.”

There are three ways to cast your ballot in the May 3rd Primary:

1. Vote by Mail
2. Early In-Person at the Board of Elections (4700 Smith Rd.)
3. In-Person Voting on Election Day at your Polling Location
