HAMILTON COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS

MEETING HELD

JANUARY 11, 2022 at 8:30AM

 

The meeting of the Hamilton County Board of Elections was called to order at 8:30am.  Present were members Ms. McFarlin, Mr. Triantafilou, Mr.  Gerhardt and Mr. Mallory. Also present: Director Sherry Poland and Deputy Director Alex Linser; David Stevenson with the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s office.

 

It was noted that proper notice was duly provided as required by O.R.C. 121.22.  The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

  1. APPROVE: BOARD MEETING MINUTES: DECEMBER 13, 2021 AND DECEMBER 27, 2021

 

Mr. Triantafilou made a motion to approve the Board Meeting Minutes for December 13, 2021 and December 27, 2021; Mr. Mallory seconded.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

  1. HEARING: REGISTERED VOTER CHALLENGE (CONTINUED)

 

The Registered Voter Challenge Hearing was continued from December 13, 2021 to allow more time for the challenged voter to receive notice of the hearing.   The voter contacted the Board of Elections after receiving the notice and the voter has updated their registration.

 

Mr. Triantafilou made a motion to deny the challenge; Mr. Mallory seconded.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

III. APPROVE: 2021 GENERAL ELECTION PRECINCT OFFICIAL PERFORMANCE EVALUATIONS

 

The Board was advised that the Poll worker team has completed the poll worker performance evaluations from the November 2021 Election. A summary report was provided:

13      PEOs Removed/Retired-No rehire

18      Locations Retrained

200    Locations with a score of 100%

87      Locations with a score of 90-99%

2141 PEOs Retain/Rehire

 

Mr. Triantafilou made a motion to approve the Staff Summary Report; Mr. Mallory seconded.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

  1. APPROVE: 2022 PRIMARY ELECTION EQUIPMENT ALLOCATION

 

Mr. Triantafilou made a motion to approve the 2022 Primary Election Equipment Allocation; Mr. Mallory seconded.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

  1. APPROVE: 2022 PRIMARY ELECTION BALLOT AND PROVISIONAL ENVELOPE QUANTITIES

 

Mr. Triantafilou made a motion to approve the 2022 Primary Election Ballot and Provisional Envelope Quantities; Mr. Mallory seconded.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

Ms. Poland reminded the Board that these approvals are the preliminary report required 90 days before Election Day.  A more in-depth review will be performed with further approval within 30 days of Election Day.

 

  1. APPROVE: PERSONNEL MATTER – SALARY ADJUSTMENTS

 

Mr. Triantafilou made a motion to enter Executive Session for the purpose of discussing Salary Adjustments; Mr. Mallory seconded.  Ms. McFarlin -aye; Mr. Triantafilou -aye; Mr. Gerhardt -aye; Mr. Mallory -aye, whereupon the Board entered Executive Session at 8:40am.

 

Mr. Triantafilou made a motion to return to regular session; Mr. Mallory seconded.  Ms. McFarlin -aye; Mr. Triantafilou -aye; Mr. Gerhardt -aye; Mr. Mallory -aye, whereupon the Board returned to regular session at 8:45am.

 

The first matter before the Board was a cost of living adjustment made available by the County and recommended by Staff to be applied across the board.

 

Mr. Triantafilou made a motion to approve the cost of living adjustment for the entire BOE team retroactive to the first pay period of 2022; Mr. Mallory seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

 

The second matter before the Board is Resolution 22-001 setting compensation for the Administrators and Deputy Director.

 

Mr. Triantafilou made a motion to adopt Resolution 22-001; Mr. Mallory seconded.  The motion passed unanimously.

VII. OTHER BUSINESS

 

Kenny Henning, Secretary of State Liaison addressed the Board.

 

There being no further business to come before the Board, Mr. Triantafilou made a motion to adjourn; Mr. Mallory seconded.  The motion passed unanimously.
