HAMILTON COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS
MEETING HELD
MAY 2, 2022 at 8:30AM

The meeting of the Hamilton County Board of Elections was called to order at 8:30am. Present were members Ms. McFarlin, Mr. Triantafilou, Mr. Gerhardt and Mr. Mallory. Also present: Director Sherry Poland and Deputy Director Alex Linser; David Stevenson and Jesse Daley with the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s office.

It was noted that proper notice was duly provided as required by O.R.C. 121.22. The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.

I. APPROVE: BOARD MEETING MINUTES: APRIL 12, 2022

Mr. Triantafilou made a motion to approve the Board Meeting Minutes for April 12, 2022; Mr. Mallory seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

II. APPROVE: BALLOT REMAKES

Ms. Criddle presented the following ballots to the Board. All were remade by bipartisan teams pursuant to Secretary of State Directive and Board policy:

A1 – A9 the ballots as remade; Mr. Mallory
A65 - A74 seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

III. APPROVE: LOGIC AND ACCURACY TESTING

The Logic and Accuracy Public Test Results were reviewed by the Board.

Mr. Triantafilou made a motion to approve the Logic and Accuracy Public Test Results report; Mr. Mallory seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

IV. APPROVE: FULL-TIME STAFF APPOINTMENT

Mr. Linser advised the Board of the Appointment of Tammy Thompson to the position of Human Resources/Payroll Officer.

Mr. Triantafilou made a motion to Approve the Full-time Staff appointment of Tammy Thompson; Mr. Mallory seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

V. DECLARE POLLS OPEN FOR THE MAY 3, 2022 PRIMARY ELECTION

Mr. Triantafilou made a motion to Declare the Polls Open on May 3, 2022 at 6:30am for the May 3, 2022 Primary Election; Mr. Mallory seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

VI. OTHER BUSINESS

Ms. Poland provided an update with regard to Early Voting, which ends at 2pm today. She reports that the numbers are up slightly as compared to a similar Election (2018 Primary).

Kenny Henning, District Liaison for the Ohio Secretary of State addressed the Board offering congratulations on the CLEARIE award received by the Board.

Ms. Poland and Mr. Linser expanded on the CLEARIE award: Earlier in the year, Staff began producing a series of short videos entitled “Did You Know”. The series is designed to briefly describe many of the processes and procedures in place at the Boards of Elections in short, creative and informative videos.

Each year, the U.S. Election Assistance Commission honors the work of election administrators across the county with the Clearinghouse Awards (CLEARIE). The Hamilton County Board of Elections was selected as the 2021 winner in the category of Outstanding Innovation in election Cybersecurity & Technology with the “Did You Know” series.

There being no further business to come before the Board, Mr. Triantafilou made a motion to stand in recess; Mr. Mallory seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

The meeting of the Hamilton County Board of Elections reconvened on Tuesday May 3, 2022 at 6:30pm. Present were members Ms. McFarlin, Mr. Triantafilou, Mr. Gerhardt and Mr. Mallory. Also present: Director Sherry Poland and Deputy Director Alex Linser; David Stevenson and Jesse Daley with the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s office.

Mr. Triantafilou made a motion to Declare the Polls Closed on May 3, 2022 at 7:30pm for the May 3, 2022 Primary Election; Mr. Mallory seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

III. OTHER BUSINESS

The Board was advised of the precautions in place at the polling locations should bad weather be a factor on Election Day.

There being no further business to come before the Board, Mr. Triantafilou made a motion to stand in recess; Mr. Mallory seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

The Board reconvened on Tuesday May 3, 2022 at 9:35pm.
